Our Story
What started as a personal collection of drum kits, snares, and hardware grew into something far beyond what we ever anticipated. Over just a few years, the collection expanded so much that we made a decision: why not share this passion with fellow drummers?
That's how Ducks Drum Shop was born. We opened our doors with a carefully curated selection of quality used kits, hardware, snares, and select new equipment. Every piece in our shop has been chosen with care, because we know what drummers need and want.
Meet Don
I'm a drummer with 50 years of experience, and my journey started in the most authentic way possible — jamming with a couple of neighbors. We played mostly southern rock and country, and we were a garage band without the garage.
My first drum kit was a Blue Sparkle, 70's model Slingerland 5-piece kit with Zildjian cymbals. I fell in love with the sound and never looked back.
I never really cared about playing with a band outside that garage setup. I never played in the school band, and no, I've never had any formal lessons or learned to read music. Everything I know came from the heart and the beat.
Don's Journey
At age 22, I started playing with a local southern gospel singing group. My kit at the time was one the former drummer had bought new a couple of years earlier — a Dark Maroon, 6-piece Pearl Export kit with Pearl cymbals. Once I started playing and traveling locally with this group, I began changing drum kits pretty regularly.
It was through this group that I met my wife. Later, I had the honor of playing for her family's southern gospel singing group as well. Music truly brought us together, and it's been the soundtrack of our lives ever since.
Over the years I played Pearl, Ludwig, Gretsch, Roland Electric, and Mapex kits — each one teaching me something new about sound and feel. I also discovered Paiste cymbals during this time and absolutely loved them. To this day, I still play a set of Paiste Sound Formula cymbals from the 1980's and 90's. They are vintage cymbals with a tone that is simply unmatched.

Our mission is simple — to share the love of drumming with everyone, from beginners picking up their first pair of sticks to seasoned players looking for their next great kit.
